Claudia Bossard Director

Claudia Bossard studied German literature and theatre studies at the University of Bern and has been working as a freelance director in Graz, Vienna and Munich since 2017. In 2018, she realised a highly acclaimed dramatisation of Roberto Bolaño's novel 2666 for the Kammerspiele at the Staatstheater Darmstadt and won the ensemble prize at the German-language national competition for drama schools in Berlin in 2019 with her adaptation of Romulus the Great by Friedrich Dürrenmatt, which she developed for the Graz University of the Arts. This was followed by The Physicists at Schauspielhaus Graz, nominated for the Nestroy Prize in the ‘Best Provincial Performance’ category in 2020, and Das Werk by Elfriede Jelinek at the Kosmos Theatre in Vienna. A work that continued in 2023 in the double bill In den Alpen / Après les alpes by Elfriede Jelinek and Fiston Mwanza Mujila on the big stage at the Volkstheater Wien. In 2022, she adapted Goethe's Faust material for the Volkstheater München with Feeling Faust and this season Der Zauberberg by Thomas Mann. Baracke by Rainald Goetz is her first work at Deutsches Theater Berlin.
