Elisabeth Pape, born in 1995, the daughter of a Ukrainian migrant, studied theatre and literature at the Free University of Berlin and subsequently dramatic writing at the Berlin University of the Arts.

She was awarded the 2023 Kleist Prize and received the 2023 Leonhard Frank Scholarship, awarded by the Mainfranken Theatre in Würzburg. Her plays have premiered at venues including the Staatstheater Augsburg, Theater Koblenz and the Mainfranken Theater Würzburg. Halbe Portion was her debut novel.
