Jan Friedrich, born in 1992 in Lutherstadt Eisleben, studied contemporary puppetry at the Ernst Busch Academy of Dramatic Arts in Berlin. He works as a freelance writer, set and costume designer, and director.

His plays have premiered at the Schauspiel Hannover and the Deutsches Theater Berlin; as a director, he has worked at venues including the Staatstheater Kassel, the Schauspiel Hannover, the Staatstheater Mainz, the Schauspiel Dortmund, the Theater Magdeburg, the Schauburg München and the Theater Oberhausen.
