Born in Mühlacker near Stuttgart, began his studies at the Academy of Fine Arts Vienna in 2003. He studied stage design with Erich Wonder and, as a guest, fine art with Eva Schlegel and Matthias Herrmann. At the same time, he also began studying architecture at the Academy of Fine Arts. After graduating with a diploma in stage design, he switched to the field of fine arts in Monica Bonvicini's class. During his studies, he assisted Erich Wonder and Bernhard Kleber, among others. Peter Baur works as a stage designer, video artist and costume designer for performance, theatre and film projects. His play Iphigenie auf Tauris, created together with Sibylle Dudek, Falko Herold, Edgar Selge and Franziska Walser, premiered at the Ruhrfestspiele Recklinghausen and the Maxim Gorki Theater Berlin in 2011. He has an ongoing collaboration with Bastian Kraft: the evenings Amerika (2009), Axolotl Roadkill (2010) and Orlando (2011) were created at the Thalia Theater in Hamburg, schöner lügen (2008) and Dorian Gray (2010) at the Burgtheater in Vienna, Werther (2011) at the Schauspielhaus Graz and Der Geizige (2012) at the Schauspielhaus Wien. In addition to his work as a set designer, he pursues his own artistic projects in museums and public spaces. Based on personal experiences and self-experiments, he deals with themes such as home, adolescence and sexual identity.
