Pollyester - aka Polly Lapkovskaja - was born in Minsk and studied jazz double bass in Munich before establishing herself in Munich's subculture as a performance artist, singer, composer and musician. She plays in various bands and artist collectives, including the Pollyesterband, Munk, Kamerakino, Salewski & Band and has organised the Zombocombo, a monthly party and performance series, since 2004. In 2008, she worked with Peter Kastenmüller in the project Illegal for the first time as a theatre musician, then regularly at the Münchner Kammerspiele, and also at the Theater Basel and Residenztheater München, among others. In 2010, she realised the project Pollyester Parking Lot, a staged junkyard where concerts and performances took place, at the Münchner Kammerspiele. Pollester's debut album Earthly Powers was released in 2011. In 2014, she made the music for Stephan Kimmig's production of Geschichten aus dem Wiener Wald by Ödön von Horváth at the Münchner Kammerspiele.
