Space Queers
A sci-fi adventure by Paul Spittler and DT Jung* DIRECTED BY Paul Spittler
Synopsis
Space: the final frontier. It is the year 2023. The Space Queers are voyaging adventurously. Many light-years from their home planet of Qeerius, the crew explore strange new worlds and seek out new life and civilisations. They are constantly on the lookout for new partner planets to join the United Federation of Genders and Sexualities. During their journey, they experience peculiar, scary, funny, insightful, sexy, menacing, empowering and ultimately queer adventures! Their mission is threatened by the evil heteronormative patriarchal empire and its Pimperator. Above all, his right-hand man Dark Invader wants to destroy the United Federation with the heteronormatising planet Deaf Star and prevent a diverse interstellar society. The battle of the starlets and the rebellion of the non-conformists begins!
Director Paul Spittler, who was invited to the 2022 Heidelberg Stückemarkt festival with his theatre film Darkroom Revisited, is making a mark with his queer and pop-feminist works. For the Junges DT, he has invented a sci-fi adventure with young people from the LGBTIQ+ community and their allies that sends up the concept of heteronormativity with humour, glitter and trash.
