Svenja Liesau, born in Magdeburg, completed her acting studies at the Ernst Busch University of Theatre Arts in Berlin in 2013. Even before her studies, she appeared in her first engagements at Magdeburg Theatre, where she worked with Jan Jochymski, among others.
From February 2013, she was part of the ensemble at the Maxim Gorki Theatre in Berlin. She has worked with directors Armin Petras and Jan Bosse, among others. From 2013 to 2017, Svenja Liesau was a member of the ensemble at Schauspiel Stuttgart, and from 2017 to 2022 she was once again a permanent member of the ensemble at the Maxim Gorki Theatre. There she worked with directors including Yael Ronen, Sebastian Nübling, Christian Weise and Leonie Böhm.
She performed in Verrücktes Blut (director: Nurkan Erpulat), which was invited to the Berliner Theatertreffen in 2011, and in Und sicher ist mit mir die Welt verschwunden (director: Sebastian Nübling), which was voted Play of the Year 2021 by the magazine ‘Theater heute’. She also appeared regularly on stage as Hamlet (director: Christian Weise) and as a guest.
Svenja Liesau has been a member of the Deutsches Theater Berlin ensemble since the 2023/24 season.
