A summer between Plattenbau (prefabricated concrete buildings). Heat, boredom, violence. Too little money, too little space in the family. And occasionally school. The 16 year-old Lukas gets caught up in a conflict between groups of dealers. Will the wiser give in? Or does the smarter one give in? Both seem like bad options. Sanchez, the new classmate, has a brilliant idea and in a dizzying moment, Lukas and his friends decide to steal the brand new computers that the senate has donated to his ‘problem school’ - without the boys thinking through how they could actually turn them into money without attracting attention. A fast-paced race against all odds begins.

Felix Lobrecht's autobiographically inspired novel is a humorous, dramatic and touching account of growing up in Berlin's Gropiusstadt district. DT Jung* is bringing Sun and Concrete to the whole of Berlin in a mobile play: to classrooms in various districts, but also to youth centres, football clubs and club canteens. The performance is rounded off with a follow-up discussion on site.
