Jörg Pose was born in Rostock, studied at the Hans Otto drama school in Leipzig and worked at Schauspiel Leipzig, in Frankfurt/Oder and in Bonn.

From 1991 to 1996 he was engaged at the Schauspiel Frankfurt, then at the Düsseldorfer Schauspielhaus. In 2000/01 Jörg Pose went to the Bayerisches Staatsschauspiel in Munich and from 2001 to 2003 to the Schauspiel Frankfurt. He worked with André Wilms, Anselm Weber, Thirza Bruncken, Dimiter Gotscheff and Armin Petras, among others.

From 2003 to 2009, Jörg Pose was a member of the ensemble at the Thalia Theater in Hamburg, where he repeatedly appeared in productions by Andreas Kriegenburg, Stephan Kimmig, Dimiter Gotscheff, Alize Zandwijk, René Pollesch and Armin Petras.

Since the 2009/10 season, Jörg Pose has been a member of the ensemble at the Deutsches Theater Berlin, where he has continued his collaboration with Kriegenburg as the Elector in Prinz Friedrich von Homburg, as Alceste in Molière's Der Menschenfeind, in the Dea Loher premiere Diebe, in Lessing's Nathan der Weise and Kafka's Ein Käfig ging einen Vogel suchen.
