synopsis
Julian has messed up. He edited a photo of his girlfriend using AI and uploaded it to social media. As a result, she blocked him and disappeared from his life. Julian is suffering; he’s holed up in bed, searching the internet for advice and comfort. And suddenly Lilly is back, but somehow she’s different – she’s behaving strangely and is desperate to get back together with him. What’s going on with her?
A mobile theatre production for young people aged 13 and over about how digital substitute worlds can never replace direct human contact.
The new touring production by DT jung* is being developed as part of the 5th edition of the ETC programme Young Europe. For this, eight different partner theatres – from Sweden to Romania, from Amsterdam to Malta – have committed to a ‘dramaturgy of care’ and are exploring what ‘care’ might look like in the intersection of theatre and school.
Through a multi-year artistic research process, they are jointly generating insights which they are applying to their local projects. The mobile theatre production for DT is being written by the Berlin-based author Elisabeth Pape, drawing, amongst other things, on a series of workshops that have taken place at various schools in Berlin. During the rehearsal process, starting in August, the play will be further developed by two acting students from the Hochschule für Schauspielkunst Ernst Busch and the artistic team led by director Paulina Neukampf, through further rounds of feedback with schools. From October onwards, it can then be booked for mobile performances – for example, in classrooms – on five dates per month.
